Well my personal belief is that there is very little difference between a house and clan. They are basically the very same thing. However there are some slight differences between the two, and most of it depends on how each one are ran.
Houses
Houses tend to have someone within their bloodline that you are connected to. Either by being their gread great grandchilde, or by being married into it. Houses can be the results of two bloodlines joining together, however sometimes they do not last very long.
Within the House, everyone should not have to worry about what clans they are apart of, what beliefs they may have. However some Houses do prefer if those in the bloodline share the same views. This isn’t always the case.
Houses are family related, coming together to help those of their bloodline, grow stronger, perhaps only have those in their family joining clans that have a great deal of family members within it and are unlikely to ever come and fight each other.
Houses can fall apart just like clans and it shouldn’t be thought that it shouldn’t. While people like to believe that houses have no leader, they tend to have a leader. Most times it is the one the House is named after being added by either the bondmate of that said vampire or their childer who have been around for a longer amount of time.
Unlike most clans, Houses tend to listen to every member with in it. They are a more neutral ground where people can come together. In Houses, people may not attack family members or ask to be allowed to stay out of an attack towards a certain member of the family. One should not assume that a House will not stand up and protect it’s own. Houses do such things, and so it should always be assumed that they may and could attack if threaten.
Clans[/b]
Unlike Houses, clans tend to be a little more protective over information within it’s walls. They can very well be family related to many people within the clan walls and even have some members who are not blood related to them.
Clans tend to fight a lot more then Houses do, and sometimes people within the same House can and will fight each other. This doesn’t mean they care any less about the person they are attacking as long as it’s understood before hand that it’s all in the name of the battle.
Clans tend to have many levels to get into the higher ranks of the clan, a training ground, a mid-way ground and then a member, sometimes even after being a member, you will find that they still have even more ranks up. As you are apart of the clan and are active within it’s walls as well as trusted.
Clans tend to have more in common with those within it. Perhaps all sharing the same goal or wants within the city, clans likes houses can fall apart, and it tends to be clans you hear fall apart far often then you do houses.
Within clans it should be them who you place above all others, other then perhaps your bondmate.
How they’re the Same[/color]
To put it simply, they both expect you to be respectful, to follow the rules and guidelines that are set in both, and to never betray them. This may mean, having a certain amount of powers, or being willing to donate your time and energy into the house. This may mean given coins you have gathered to help younger members grow in strength as well.
However like with clans and Houses you don’t do all the work… but each clan is different and so is each house.
